Phaedrus Estate, established in 1997, is a small winery renowned for its cool-climate varietal wines, including Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Shiraz, and the recently introduced Fiano. Managed by Ewan Campbell and Maitena Zantvoort, the duo enjoys the challenge of crafting these wines, and regularly welcomes guests at the cellar door for tastings, where they also offer cheese platters.
Beyond sharing their wines, they are enthusiastic to discuss winemaking processes and grape growing intricacies, from red wine production to complex subjects like clones and soil chemistry. Their selection also includes a sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay and a dry Pinot Rosé. The estate emphasizes a relaxed, educational experience that accommodates groups of up to six adults, and well-behaved dogs are also welcome.
The cellar door operates without reservations and is set to reopen on Saturday, 29 July. For the most accurate visiting details and opening hours, check their website.
